Firestorm: a brief history...

In 1395 a Traveller came across time to deliver The Great Secret, a compendium of scientific knowledge which would catapult mankind into a world of peace, ease and prosperity. With it they could control disease and pain, food and natural resources, work and leisure. They could, in essence, remake themselves in God's own image.

But the Great Secret was intercepted by a man who saw the power the book had to raise him alone to a position of unparallelled power. He founded an ultra-secret sect known as G4 who, with their supernatural figure-head DAXOV, controlled the Great Secret, allowing mankind to develop at a pace they dictated... and always without one essential part of the Secret: Time.

G4 lost the secret of time itself, and with it the key to ultimate power over every possible past, present and future that humanity could have. But they knew it could be mastered: the Traveller was proof.

For five hundred years DAXOV waited and watched... As the centuries rolled by, a prophesy grew, telling of another Traveller who would come to deliver what the first had not. Whoever was first to find this man could rule the universe.

By 1899, scientists at the Dis Robotics Labs were on the verge of discovering time travel for themselves. G4 could not allow this to happen, and secretly formented a war that would divide mankind and send them back to the dark ages. They unleashed Firestorm, destroying all the known technologies, everything the Great Secret had delivered, and nine hundred million of their fellow men.

A new world order began.

DAXOV emerged from the shadows and his minions began to fan out across the land.

It was not the ultimate power he and G4 had craved, but it was a firm foundation while they waited for the prophesy to be fulfilled.

Now, in 2012, a new Traveller has come.

But is he really the Prophesy made real? Has he come to deliver the final secret? Or has he come to destroy a world without God, without Hope, without Love?

David Tweed is that final Traveller. Problem is, he doesn't know it. He's only there by accident, when an experimental time machine malfunctions and plunges him into this nightmare world.

Now, he must race against time to find a way home before this world destroys him. But everyone he meets has their own agenda, their own reason the help or hinder him, and it is far from clear just who is who.

Firestorm is a parable for the modern age, drawing on classical mythology, ancient mystical texts and invoking the spirits of writers as diverse as Dante and Goethe.

Alan Porter weaves a deceptively simple story of one man's courage and faith in the face of overwhelming odds, set in a fiendishly complex puzzle where time twists in on itself and nothing is ever quite what it seems.

Part sci-fi, part horror, part classic adventure, FIRESTORM is like nothing you've ever read before!
